ASSOCIATE MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
Reports to: Director of Marketing Communications and Communications Specialist II
STATUS: Entry Level, this position begins part-time (15-20 hours) with transition to full-time status by August 15th. hourly non-exempt, $20

REGULAR DUTIES:
The Associate Marketing Communications Specialist will be responsible for three main areas of marketing and communications work: graphic design, content production, and light administrative work. The Associate Marketing Communications Specialist will help develop and implement content for the church’s digital communications channel including the church website, outdoor billboard, worship projections, several digital newsletters, and social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram. These tasks comprise approximately 45% of the workload in the Associate Marketing Communications Specialist role.
The Associate Marketing Communications Specialist will also execute designs for print including weekly worship print collateral, event posters and postcards, print advertisements, and banners. As needed, the Associate Marketing Communications Specialist will partner with and support the Communications Team to update printed church communications collateral such as brochures, flyers, directories, and signage. These graphic design tasks comprise approximately 45% of the workload for this role.
Finally, the Associate Marketing Communications Specialist will meet regularly with the Communications and Marketing Team to help coordinate and execute projects in support of the church’s many ministries and programs. Meetings and administrative support time comprise the final 10% of the workload for the role.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Hold a Degree (Associate or Bachelor) in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications, Marketing, or related field. OR a high school diploma with a proven record of reliability, the initiative to learn, and/or equivalent work experience or technical expertise;
Have fluency in the Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; the Microsoft Office Suite; Google Photos, Google Suite;
Communicate clearly about timing and progress;
Be thoroughly reliable, with a proven record of excellent accountability and attendance;
Proven ability to implement and uphold an organization’s brand identity and Style Guide;
Be a team player who thrives in a collaborative and collegiate environment;
Be a self-starter who is eager to learn new skills and master new tools;
Be an excellent manager of one’s own time and tasks to achieve high-quality results efficiently;
Strong attention to detail
Ability to submit drafts for review and execute revisions gracefully;
Have strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills for both digital and print formats;
Have outstanding interpersonal skills, a friendly and approachable manner, and an innate ability to communicate respectfully, patiently, and graciously will all members of the Hennepin community.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional or volunteer experience in a mission-focused nonprofit organization or house of worship;
Interest in understanding and utilizing trends in content creation/marketing
Video production software experience such as Adobe Premiere Pro;
CMS platforms experience (WordPress preferred);
Email Marketing Software experience (Constant Contact preferred);
SEO best practice awareness.

SCHEDULE:
2-3 days a week totaling 20 hrs a week until August 15th, then 5 days a week. Overtime or additional hours may be available occasionally with prior approval.
