Times: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (Standard CA overtime rules apply)

Job Description
As a summer science camp mentor with Headwaters your main responsibility is to oversee and facilitate activities related to science and nature education for campers ages 5-11 years old. Your duties will include:
• Organizing daily science activities, experiments, and observations for campers that are age-appropriate and engaging.
• Helping create student driven hands-on learning experiences that incorporate scientific method.
• Assisting with the supervision of campers and ensuring their safety at all times.
• Providing guidance and support to campers as they learn and explore the natural world around them.
• Encouraging campers to ask questions, make observations, and think critically about the scientific process.
• Leading group discussions and activities that promote teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving.
• Communicating with parents/guardians and camp manager about campers' progress, challenges, and accomplishments.
• Participating in training sessions and camp meetings to ensure that you are up-to-date on lessons, techniques and safety protocols.
• Setting a positive example for campers by demonstrating respect for the environment and all living things.
• Maintaining a clean and organized classroom area, and ensuring that all equipment and materials are properly used, and maintained.
Overall, as a summer science camp mentor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a love of science and nature in young campers, while also ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the summer camp experience.
