Under supervision of the Lead Teacher, supports planning and implementing a quality program for the children and the parents. The teacher works cooperatively with all staff to coordinate the program for the center. The Teacher must have at least 12 ECE units , LiveScan clearance and Adult/pediatric first aid/CPR.

Hours Monday - Friday 9am-4pm 35 hours/week

Daily

· Initiate and implement a quality classroom program for the children.

· Implement a balanced daily schedule that includes opportunities for indoor and outdoor activities, quiet and active periods, individual and group play, and that meets the personal needs of the children – resting, eating, and toileting.

· Develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities. Indoor and outdoor environments are to be thoughtfully planned to provide a rich, warm and diverse learning setting. Choices are regularly available in –but not limited to – active play, art, music, science/sensory, reading, writing and math.

· Coordinate with the lead teacher /co teachers/ aides to plan developmentally appropriate activities. Choices are regularly available in –but not limited to - Active play, Art, Music, Science/Sensory, Reading, Writing and Math.

· Maintain a safe and healthy environment within the guidelines established California State Licensing laws. Be knowledgeable of, and always follow the State Licensing guidelines.

· Provide assistance to other teachers /aides with the written assessments of each child.

· Assist the Lead Teacher/co teachers/aides in maintaining the children’s portfolios. Portfolios should include, but are not limited to the following: parent conferences, anecdotal notes, checklists, performance reviews, artwork and photos.

· Provide on-the-job training for all classroom aides and volunteers.

· Interact daily with parents. Give brief verbal reports and written notices when necessary.

· Assist in making sure that all parents are signing their children in and out of the preschool.

· Help to ensure that classroom is left clean after snack, lunch and at the end of the day -- tables and chairs are wiped clean, materials are put away where they belong, carpets are vacuumed, floor is swept and mopped, trash is thrown out.

· Assist in the cleaning and sanitizing food preparation and service surfaces.

· Assist in making sure that all outdoor toys (includes both front playground and backyard) are put away. Outdoor yards are swept and neat.

· Be ready to greet families in the morning, unlock doors, turn on lights, and heater/ac if necessary. Create a welcome environment in the mornings.

· Evaluate each child’s health and appearance according to State Licensing guidelines.

Weekly

· Coordinate with the Director/Lead Teacher/co teaches/aides to plan the weekly lesson curriculum.

· Involve classroom aides in planning and supervising activities.

· Provide assistance to the Lead Teacher and or Director with written assessments of each child.

· Assist in washing/sanitizing all the toys/materials in the classroom.

Monthly

· Attending all staff developments meetings, workshops etc. are required.

· Attending other meetings as required - Open house, parent conferences, evening fundraisers, holiday shows, weekend events, etc. are required.

· Meet with the Director to evaluate and problem solve any class and preschool issues.

· Continue ongoing professional development.

· Responsible for maintaining a monthly themed door/board.

· Assist in moving preschool furniture for any/all special parish occasions.

Semi Annually

· In conjunction with the Director/lead teacher/co teachers conduct two scheduled parent/teacher conferences per year with each family. Must be available for additional conferences as needed or at the parent’s request.

· Document all parent/teacher conferences.

· Attend all preschool functions.

Annually

· Orient parents that are new to the preschool.

· Set annual professional and classroom goals with the Director.

Additional

· Occasional to regularly working/communicating outside of the preschool’s operating hours is expected — may include the following but is not limited to -- replying to the occasional email from Miss Stephanie and myself, text messages, lesson planning, occasional weekend commitments, etc.).

· Continuing education in the field of Early Childhood education is highly encouraged and supported!
