Tree Worker (Arborist) / Groundsman
Job Details:
Enjoy working outdoors in the shade of trees. We are looking to hire an experienced Arborist in climbing, trimming removing trees but are also willing to train to become part of our ground crew arborist team.
Training will occur from the ground up. Starting with wood chipping, stump grinding, ground clean-up, saw equipment maintenance, rigging, hoisting, rope work, pruning, to assist in removals, trimming, tree health progressing into high rise canopy work in bucket trucks, boom crane trucks & climbing. Required certifications:
Valid Driver's License
CPR/First Aid Training (within first 3 months of hire)
Employer assisted Professional development (Certified Arborist, Climbing, Equipment Operation, CDL Training)
Experience:
1 Year desired experience in tree care, landscaping, general biology, tree care, tree climbing, lineman training, or rock climbing.
Job Duties
Work is outdoors, with standing, bending, hoisting, pulling, and carrying heavy objects required. Provides ground maintenance to remove tree debris caused from operations covering work sites, streets, and surrounding area including stumps, fallen trees, limbs, logs, chipped material and sawdust. Cuts and splits tree logs/limbs into manageable pieces. Relays hand signals, to help direct and assist other crew members & equipment. Safeguards in and around work area from hazards by setting up traffic control devices (barriers, warning signs, flags, cones) for worker and public safety and protection. Drives, operates trucks and equipment, as assigned per certifications & license(s) held. Hoists to lower branches/logs with ropes and straps for safe removals. Loads/unloads trucks. Operates tree chipping equipment, feed limbs and debris into the machines. Operates chainsaws to delimb, prune and remove trees. Repairs minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways. Climb trees, using safe climbing techniques, safety equipment to perform trimming and removal services. Provide maintenance on gasoline, air and hand-powered tools and other equipment. Maintains neat housekeeping on trucks and work area to keep safe, clean and orderly. Participates in training classes & exercises and assists in the training of new employees. Responsible for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, truck, equipment, cables, braces, lanyards, etc., performs lockout/tagout per OSHA standards, and requests repair or replacement, as needed. Performs other related work, as assigned by superiors.
