Direct Support Staff/paraprofessionals participate in the planning and facilitation of individual and group programs that meet the needs and interests of our members. Direct support staff/paraprofessional will be scheduled to support members in either the day habilitation or CBS/IS 1:1 setting.

Responsibilities
Helping individuals build and maintain relationships with family. friends, and Community
Following individuals daily activity/class selection schedule, implementing all formal goals and protocols of individuals you are assigned to
Fulfilling responsibilities and advocacy as primary support and guide.
Coaching, Mentoring, Guiding, Teaching and Assisting individuals in all aspects of daily, social, and community life
Accompanying individuals on community activities
Knowledge and accurate implementation of emergency procedures
Documentation, i.e. incident reports, MAR records, logs, staff communication
Assist members with activities of daily living and personal care as needed (e.g. arrival and departure, eating, ambulation, transferring, classes, activities, restroom assistance, etc.).
Assist in the planning and facilitation of creative and diverse therapeutic programs and encourage member participation.
Able to bend, pull, push, squat, turn, transfer, and lift 50 pounds; able to stand for an extended period while providing physical assistance to members.
Must be willing to take lead in activities, planning, and actively participate with members in activities.
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED required.
2 years of relevant work experience.
At least 20 years of age
Must have experience working with adults who have special needs/developmental disability.
At least one-year full-time equivalent experience in a Developmental Disability setting preferred.
Knowledge of community resources.
Valid, clean, NJ Driver’s License.
CPR/First Aid Certified
Successful results of background check, and where applicable, additional state-specific regulatory requirements, UDS, and CRO review - will be completed prior to the first day of work. Must complete a Child Abuse Record Information Form (CARI application)within 10 days of employment. All employees shall be considered as working in a provisional status; ending the results of the DCF CARI check.
