(OPEN TO ALL US CANDIDATES)- Wonderful parents 20 minutes from MINNEAPOLIS, seek a FULL-TIME CAREGIVER to be their partner in caring for their four children, ages 14, 12, 10, and 7 years from 1-9 pm Monday-Friday.
The youngest two attend the same elementary school from 7:30 am-2:30 pm each day. The eldest two attend two different schools from approximately 9 am-4 pm. Parents will cover transportation to and from school, or the children will come home on the bus. Mom stays home and takes care of getting them to afterschool activities while the nanny stays home with the other kiddos. After school, the children have some time to unwind and should complete daily chores and homework with the nanny’s assistance. Dinner takes place around 5-6 pm, followed by evening activities (games, etc.). The bedtime routine begins around 8 pm.
The eldest is very bright, talkative, and sweet. He has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and attends a charter school for middle and high school kids on the spectrum. Their 12-year-old is very smart and talented. She can be a bit of a perfectionist! She has struggled with sensory sensitivity and adapting to middle school. She enjoys anime, caring for her cats, and video games/calls with her friends! Their 10-year-old identifies as non-binary and is sensitive, bright, funny, and has a deep inner life. The fourth grade had a difficult start with peers but going into 5th grade this fall is full of positivity! Their youngest is high-energy, sociable, funny, and loves attention. He enjoys board games, physical play, and dancing. He has a great sense of humor.
The children are beautiful, bright, and creative but can also be emotionally intense (particularly the older three). While these tendencies can be managed and even used for individual and group benefit, they can also be disruptive if ignored or mismanaged. Thus, they seek a nanny who is open to working with children with autism and strong emotions. A huge bonus for candidates who have a background in ABA or experience working with children with autism or emotional dysregulation.
Duties include complete childcare, helping with homework, and meal prep for the kids (a huge plus if open to meal prep for the family). They seek a nanny who can be active and engage with the children in a meaningful way. They have a weekly cleaning service, so no heavy cleaning other than maintaining cleanliness in the home and helping the children complete chores and pick up after themselves.
The ideal candidate understands the value of routine/habit but is also highly flexible and adaptable. Someone who has high energy is a self-starter, can actively engage the kids, and conduct tasks and activities without much direction. Someone who takes initiative and can anticipate needs before they arise. Someone who is confident and comfortable formulating/iterating a plan and acting without explicit instruction or direction. There is a lot of fluidity in their household independence in their children, and parents do not wish to micromanage their nanny, and thus look for someone who can read between the lines and work with vaguer instruction. This would be a great opportunity for someone who prefers to work autonomously rather than receive direction for each task. Must be willing to tag team with a stay-at-home mom. Teamwork is key!
The position is open to all US candidates. Relocation assistance is provided for the right candidate; however, this is a LIVE OUT position. Housing is not provided. They have 4 cats in the home—no allergies, please!
Pay is commensurate with experience and they are flexible for the perfect candidate. Benefits include paid sick days, holidays, and vacation. The start date is August 15th!
