Head Assistant Teacher Position


Camp Haverim is a two-week camp for children and teens with autism and other cognitive and developmental delays, with sufficient communication and self-help skills, and attend 11 months of special schooling . Camp dates are August 15-26

Responsibilities include:
• attending all training meetings
• arriving each morning by 8:30am
• staying each day until campers are dismissed and the rooms are cleaned up
• assisting the campers with all programming and activities
• assisting with toileting
• following behavior plans (but deferring to Head Teacher for aggressive or harmful behavior)
• going into the swimming pool each day unless you have provided the camp with an exception (health or religious) before the start of camp, and
• providing for the overall safety and security of campers at all times

Qualifications

• College student (undergraduate or graduate) with a focus on teaching special education, speech pathology, social work,
• Experience working with children in a structured setting
• At least 2 references
• Team player mindset, patience, compassion and professional attitude
• Camp Experience
• Special Needs Experience- whether educational or actual professional work experience – an advantage
