Prominent spine surgery practice is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate medical assistant. Ideal candidate should have exceptional customer service skills. Looking for a team player who enjoys interacting with both patients and their family members.
This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours per week, with possibility of overtime. Flexibility in schedule is a plus. Compensation commensurate with experience. Starting hourly rate is $19/hr. Benefits include medical, dental, 401k with matching, PTO, and holiday pay.

POSITION SUMMARY
The position of the Medical Assistant will support providers in the care of patients in both clinical and administrative functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provider Support (70%)
• Prepare patient charts for clinic;
• Work with Administrative Assistant and Front Desk to manage the flow of the clinic by directing providers to see patients, and communicating with patients about their appointment;
• Gather initial patient medical history and perform initial patient screening;
• Coordinate with Surgery Scheduler to organize preoperative folder which includes patient history and physical chart note;
• Prepare post operative medication prescriptions;
• Help answer patient questions regarding their medical treatment;
• Help carry out the treatment plan administered by the providers;
• Help Referral Coordinator create orders for medical treatment when needed;
• Complete disability and FMLA paperwork for patients;
• Check clinic rooms, send in request for supplies, and restock rooms with supplies;
• Oversee clinic improvement projects;
• Manage communications between home health agencies and the office;
• Contact Home Health or Skilled Nursing Facility when providers need to know the status of a patient;
• Assist providers by communicating with pharmacies; and
• Schedule patient appointments with the office, and help patients navigate the next steps of treatment.
Administration (30%)
• Upload surgery patient’s history and physical notes;
• Upload radiology imaging CD’s to image viewer;
• Create chart review for patients who completed imaging late, or sent in imaging to be reviewed;
• Serve as the conduit between the patient and the provider via phone, email, and in person; and
• Assist with answering certain administrative questions.

EDUCATION
• Associate's Degree or equivalent is required; and
• Aspiring medical student a plus.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• Previous work experience in a medical office or customer service position is preferred.

EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATIONS
• High proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
• Experience in using PDF editor;
• Experience using various hospital portals (e.g. Epic, Cerner, etc.);
• Exposure using Electronic Medical Record system (e.g. CGM Clinical); and
• Working knowledge of all standard office equipment.
