Position Summary: As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of 12-16 clients, providing individual, group and family therapy, maintaining accurate records, as well as collaborating with other professionals to ensure the best client care. You will monitor clients to evaluate the success of therapy and adapt treatment as needed. You will prepare and maintain reports and case histories, as well as develop and implement therapeutic programs and approaches.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform individual and group therapy services for clients.
Complete initial assessments upon admission and comprehensive bio-psycho-social.
Develop client treatment plans based on research, clinical experience, and client histories.
Review and evaluate client progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment plans.
Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to evaluate clients’ mental and physical conditions and to determine their suitability for participation in a specific program.
Intervene as an advocate for clients to resolve crisis situations.
Provide clients and family members with information about addiction and available services and programs, making appropriate referrals when necessary.
Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in client status.
Coordinate therapy efforts with mental health professionals and other health professionals such as doctors, nurses, and social workers.
Attend training sessions and in-services to increase knowledge and skills.
Plan and implement follow-up and aftercare programs for discharging clients
Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients.
Participate in case conferences and staff meetings.
Act as a liaison between clients and medical staff.
Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services, and other post-discharge agencies.
Confer with client family members and loved ones to keep them informed of treatment planning and progress.
Instruct others in program methods, procedures, and functions.
Follow the progress of discharged clients.
Develop, implement, and evaluate public education, prevention, and health promotion programs, working in collaboration with organizations, institutions, and communities.
Direct other workers providing services to clients.
Participate in the week-long clinician on-call rotation (rotates roughly once every five weeks)
Qualifications and Skills

This position also requires proof of a current negative TB test, CPR/First-Aid certification, and documentation for I-9 verification within the first week of employment.

Must be well-versed in counseling protocols and techniques, have excellent clinical skills and maintain professionalism in dress, speech and actions.
Must have good problem-solving skills, work well with others and be a team member.
Must have expertise in communicating with highly developed written and verbal skills.
Must be able to read and comprehend professional manuals.
Be able to enforce policies and procedures in a fair and firm manner
Must have a working knowledge of twelve-step programs and principles.
Must be able to speak clearly and give and follow simple instructions.
Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to various groups.
Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
Ability to use good judgment and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.
Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
