Service Technician - Instrumentation
About Us
Bayside HVAC Products, LLC, sells and services high-quality fluid flow measurement devices that provide IoT data to various Internet Protocol networks. Our metering devices assure health, comfort, and energy efficiency in commercial buildings, hospitals, and laboratories throughout northern California. In the past 16 years Bayside has grown over 10x and we're still growing! Located in beautiful Marin county, our small team is seeking additional talent.
The products of focus will include flow meters (water, natural gas, air, steam, etc.), toxic and flammable gas monitoring systems, and laboratory air pressure and airflow measurement for fume hoods, labs and operating rooms. Sensors and metering equipment is typically mounted in pipes, louvers and air ducts. Transmitters gather sensed data and send analog or packet protocols over low voltage cables.
Job Description
● Onsite visits to client sites; commercial buildings, labs, hospitals and data centers.
● Startup and calibration of new equipment which is installed by others. Includes configuration of parameters in existing software programs and calibration of sensed data.
● Periodic calibration and maintenance of previously installed equipment.
● Demonstrate functionality of Bayside equipment to others (including interfaces with other equipment).
● Equipment to service includes:
○ Gas sensors tor toxics, O2 and refrigerant
○ Air Flow measurement stations
○ Fluid flow sensors (water, steam, gas, BTU)
○ Lab fume hood and room pressure controls
● Office based work
○ Contact clients to write quotes, schedule annual calibrations and service.
○ Work with accounting to prepare and approve billing.
○ Organize stock/tool room, digital job folders
● Required skills:
○ Basic understanding and "hands-on" experience with electronics and mechanical systems. Experience with basic hand tools, digital voltage meters, etc.
○ Basic computer skills (File management, MS Windows, Google Workspace, Word, Excel and technical applications).
○ Excellent written and verbal communication.
■ Must be able to read and write technical literature, graphs, tables, and drawings. Ability to read instrument manuals and determine tools & equipment required along with procedures to maintain or repair the instruments.
○ Professional demeanor; must be able to coordinate with customers through phone calls, emails and in person.
○ Meet customer requirements for proof of Covid vaccination.
● Desired skills:
○ Technical Associates or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience.
○ Experience and knowledge in the commercial Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry.
○ Experience and knowledge in controls, computer programming, networking, and communication protocols.
● Field work
○ The job includes visits to customer sites which are primarily in the Bay Area and Sacramento. Some trips to the Central Valley and Reno may require an overnight stay. Occasional out of state travel for product training may be required. All travel is paid by the company.
○ CA drivers license. A well maintained personal vehicle is desired, but not required. Personal mileage is paid at the Federally defined rate (currently $0.655 / mi.).
