SMCC Nature-based Aftercare Teacher Position – EXPERIENCE - NATURE BASED CURRICULUM AND PLAY


Our facility is nestled in the rolling hills of Terra Linda. As a certified Demonstration Site for the Outdoor
Classroom Project, we spend a significant portion of any given day outdoors embracing the seasons as
they affect the natural world. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated teachers who share their
interest and understanding of the natural world and can inspire children to be curious and inspire them to
explore the outdoors and appreciate the wonders of nature. If you can be flexible, reliable, responsible
and accountable, develop an engaging nature based for and be a teacher with a warm caring personality

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Create and design a thoughtful environmentally conscious space that would support children after school.
 Support homework while building a respectful and safe community.
 Nurture curiosity and value based learning
 Communicate with families at the end of the day.

Qualifications:

 Curiosity and Interest in exploring diverse ecosystems and the outdoor classroom philosophy
 Shall meet state requirements for a preschool teacher – minimum of 12 ECE units
 Appreciate a value based learning
 Shall be able to articulate clearly and carry out the objectives of Santa Margarita Children’s Center
 Shall be a person sensitive to the needs of others, evidence a love of children and learning
 Open-minded, respectful and sensitive to differing thoughts and cultures
 Physically and emotionally healthy
 Joyful and kind disposition

Full time 8:00am 5:30 pm Starting Jan. 1, 2023
