Wonderful family looking for a super special, kind, and gentle FULL-TIME NANNY who has prior experience working with SPECIAL NEEDS children. For them a split schedule is ideal, but they are also realistic and understand that this kind of schedule might not be ideal for someone so they are also open to a schedule i.e.: M-F from11 AM-7 PM or, most preferably a schedule that reflects hours Tuesday-Saturday. They'd ideally find someone who could come on at least one weekend day as part of their normal work week. Occasional evenings to cover date nights/etc. would also be a plus. They are looking for the best quality, highly educated and best-suited, competent fit! Their boys are five and seven, both amazing, bright boys! Pay is open $30-35/hr+, commensurate with experience + PTO and a nanny car to use on the job. Open to discussing any additional incentives and or benefits. Overall, they are pretty easygoing and very informal, but you will be expected to sign an NDA due to their kind of work.
Their seven-year-old is "bright and quirky." He has ASD and is an auto-didact. He can be very kind and enthusiastic, and he also has a very small "window of tolerance" if he senses danger or that something is not going to be right. His parents work with him using a developmental approach -- not behavioral -- recognizing that he does well when he can, and we seek above all to make sure he feels safe. He goes to a private micro-school about three days a week right now but they are not sure what the future holds for him over the next couple of years in terms of school. They do know, however, that the behavioral approach does not work with their son. Instead, they use an approach that is much more collaborative and prefer that the nanny they hire is someone with a similar kind of mindset and not a rigorous approach like the ABA model. Someone who is frenetic and or who has a strong "behaviorist" mentality & approach will not suit them. Their five-year-old is a super sweet kid. He is extremely enthusiastic, outgoing, and loves to play. He has an ADHD diagnosis and some developmental delays, so from a social-emotional perspective, he is more in line with a 3 or 4-year-old. He is highly empathic and a sponge for emotion, which his brain does not know how to handle yet, so he can get pretty dysregulated. Their preferred style and personality for their new nanny is someone with a super steady keel and great calming energy, generally speaking.
They are animal lovers, they have one dog (golden retriever) and a ragdoll cat. No allergies PLEASE. They live in a lovely tree-lined neighborhood just outside of DC. They are about a mile from the nearest metro station, half a mile from the nearest park, with plenty of parking. you will be responsible for all duties pertaining to the children (laundry, light housekeeping, meal prep, grocery shopping, running errands, helping with homework, etc.). They are seeking someone with really good energy who can be present and calm for our kids. Someone who is trained as an OT or has experience with developmental delays/ASD would be ideal. Someone with high integrity aragdollnd reliability is paramount.
