The canvasser is an entry level position who reports to the Regional Organizing Director (ROD), and is on the frontline in a designated region to engage directly with community residents. The canvasser is on the frontline in an assigned turf giving information to residents based on the organization initiative. The canvasser is expected to comprehend messaging and articulate the issues related to the organization’s goals and mission. This position is expected to model and uphold the vision, mission and core values of the organization.

Responsibilities include:
● Be willing to walk neighborhoods and distribute information about the
organization initiative.
● Have quality conversations with constituents using the various methods of outreach contact (door-to-door, social distancing events, phone and texting).
The ability to comprehend messaging for and articulate issues related to the initiative.
Regular communication of progress and submission of daily reports.
Adherence to schedule and punctuality.
The ability to communicate electronically at all times while working.
The ability to remain on foot and walk for extended periods of time.
Qualifications:
Ideally, canvassers should have demonstrated experience in communication in personal engagement and the ability to record and report metrics for the assigned turf or willing to learn quickly the skills in becoming a good to great canvasser.
● Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure
● Willingness to work a flexible schedule that include some weekends
● Experience or willingness to learn Van.
High energy, outgoing,enthusiastic and willing to work long productive hours.
Strong interpersonal, oral communication and listening skills.
Positive attitude.
A self-starter and a positive attitude who has the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
Must be flexible and adaptable to unexpected changes that may include performing additional tasks as deemed necessary by the leadership team.



Compensation
● $20/hour
18 years old and older


This is an on the ground position that performs work in target locations.
Must be willing to travel as determined by the organization to assigned turf; and have access to computer, laptop and cellphone.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
Ability to build connections and drive outcomes for the mutual benefit of the organization
● Valid Drivers License and/or access to reliable transportation not necessary but encouraged
