Preschool Teacher
Come join our grassroots, fun and family-oriented nonprofit child care center serving special needs and medically complex children in an educational environment! DLC Nurse & Learn is an inclusion center for children of all abilities with classrooms for infants – 5-year olds.
DLC Preschool Teachers and Teacher Assistants are responsible for the general supervision and management of class of children, including planning and executing the educational program in accordance with the mission and goals of DLC. We are looking for team members who have a passion for early childhood education, who share our dedication to excellence, and who are excited to work with special needs and medically complex children.
The ideal team member is well prepared as a Preschool Teacher/Assistant in the field of early childhood education and/or child development, meeting the requirements of the Florida Department of Children and Families. A DLC Preschool Teacher/Assistant must be a warm, sensitive, energetic, and mature individual who relates well to children and adults. DCF hours are preferred but not required. DLC is seeking full and part time team members.
Education and experience:
- We are looking for caring, compassionate, fun, energizing, flexible, engaging, happy, team players!
- FOR TEACHERS: CDA or Associates Degree (with at least 6 hours of credits in ECE).
- Preferred 45-hour DCF training already completed.
- CPR Certification required within 3 months of date of hire.
- Preferred previous Child Care Teacher experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of child cognitive, social, and skills development methods and techniques.
Knowledge of play, reading, and quiet-time activities for children.
Child supervision skills.
Ability to provide basic nutrition and hygiene services for infants and young children.
Knowledge of child care facility, services and/or staff licensure and certification requirements.
Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
Qualifications:
- Successful Completion of DCF level 2 background screening.
- Preferred knowledge of early childhood education – course work or prior experience.
- Must be able to lift at least 80 pounds, climb stairs and navigate through the building and classrooms; as well as travel between facilities to care of children at all locations.

SCHEDULE:
Preschool full time positions are approximately 7am to 4pm, 8am to 5pm, or 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, on the Westside of Jacksonville. Part time options are available too.
Pay ranges from $12.50 to $14.50, depending on credentials. Some positions are eligible for bonuses.
