Tutor
Plymouth Kumon Math and Reading Center is looking for assistant instructors to join our team. Our current openings are for math and reading tutors. (Kumon is not a one-on-one tutoring program) Training will be provided to accomplish the following responsibilities:
• Coach and supervise young mathematician and reading learners.
• Grade, record, and prepare students' worksheet. Must develop speed and accuracy in grading
worksheets.
• Support center personnel in observing and instructing students with the Kumon method of learning.
• Assist students with math and reading.
• Ability to discern the level of help needed by the student with the ability to give hints or explain
concepts.
• Promote a quiet class environment.
• Prioritize tasks and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Assist other staff during class down-time.
• Must be able to provide praise and encouragement to students, as appropriate.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children, friendly demeanor.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrate strong work ethic and reliability.
• Possess strong Math and Reading aptitude.
• Guide students when approached for help.
• Manage student progress and perform clerical duties, etc. as required
• Must pass a math and reading test
• Experience working with children strongly preferred
• Searching for minimum of 1-year commitment to the position!
• Candidates must be responsible, reliable, punctual, able to multi-task, be organized, and have strong
communication skills.
Kumon Instructors discover what individual students are capable of and bring out their potential. Instructors pay careful attention to each student’s academic ability, personality and how he or she solves the worksheets. Based on their observations, Instructors provide effective support to ensure study at a level that is “just right” for each individual.
