Strategic Operations Inc. (STOPS) provides training services and products to the military, law enforcement, first responders, medical providers, and other organizations responsible for homeland security. The company employs state-of-the-art Hollywood special effects pyrotechnics, special effects make-up (wound effects), role players, subject matter experts, instructors, and scenarios to create training environments that are the most unique in the industry. STOPS also manufactures modular, mobile building systems (relocatable habitat units (RHUs)), props, faux weapons, and live fire targets and constructs, enhances, and transforms training facilities throughout the United States and Canada. STOPS is actively looking to employ an entry level Special Effects Make-up Artist/Wardrobe Specialist within the Special Effects Make-up Department, on a full-time basis, in the support of live action training.
Position Summary
This is a hands-on job in an energizing and collaborative environment. STOPS will provide on the job training, but a strong candidate will come armed with confident skills and an understanding of makeup techniques and beauty trends – as well as machine and hand sewing. Individual should have an eye for organization, be inquisitive, open to feedback, and communicative as part of a team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Learn to create and apply special effects make-up wounds for tactical training evolutions
• Casting, molding, airbrushing, sculpting, and painting amputee sleeves, and prosthetic injuries
• Design and create foam latex and silicone wounds and body parts
• Responsible for organizing products, tools, and equipment for field operations
• Pulling, laundering, mending, organizing, and/or constructing garments for tactical training
• Assisting in preparing and tracking wardrobe assigned to projects
• Participating in maintaining accurate records of departmental activities, including inventory
